Movie Review of Milk

Last evening I finally got to watch the movie Milk that Keith got me for my Birthday. It was not surprising to me that I loved the movie as true stories are my favorite types of movies and books. I experienced so many different types of emotions from this movie, I was sad, happy, angered and motivated by this film. It is no surprise to anyone who knows me that I would enjoy a well written film regarding anyone fighting for gay rights.

So leaving my personnel feelings regarding the films issue aside I have to say that this film was not only well written by it did an amazing job of explaining Harvey Milk's work and life in San Fransisco. The movie never dragged really allowed you to feel how he felt and how those around him felt during that time. The movie was a longer movie but I didn't realize how long it was until it was over since the movie had me interested from the beginning about the characters and what was about to happen.

I also think this movie did an amazing job of showing the gay community as a union and group of individuals as who they are and that all they want is to be given the same rights as everyone else. I also think is shows how so many homosexuals go through great emotional challenges in their daily life and while in the process of admitting who they really are. This movie shows how many of struggled to admit they are gay because of the backlash from others including their own family and friends. I highly suggest anyone who thinks people choose to be gay watch this and see how difficult life as a gay man can be and then maybe you'll realize that no one would choose such a difficult life.

I'm trying to stop myself from giving a civil rights speech and just talk about the movie but I think that I've explained the movie well enough to encourage others to see it so I'm going to stop here before I either give some of the movie away or start going off on peoples ignorance and intolerance!
